The Land of Stories is the first book of a 6 book series and is written by Chris Colfer. It was published by Hachette Book Group in July of 2012. Chris Colfer is directing a Fox film of the 1st book of The Land of Stories, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Twins Alex and Conner Bailey have a working mother, a dead father, and a grandmother that visits them once in a while. Conner is a class clown, while Alex is an outcast for being a book-worm and smart. On their 13th birthday, their grandmother gives them a book of fairytales called The Land of Stories. On accident they are drawn into the book, where the stories told to them by their father come to life, but all the fairytales are different. Their only way back home is through the Wishing Spell. Facing many foes and making new friends the twins travel through a world of imagination. Will they accomplish their goal or will they be stuck in a book forever, but will they be able to accept who they are on the inside. This story incorporates fairytale stories with adventure and real life experiences. It leaves readers with the question of how to accept one’s self?
