I have a poem for this edition about the Florida shooting.  I am deeply saddened that this happened and this is my way of expressing it.

A normal day turned upside down

Lockdown procedures all in place

Faux fire drill pulled by the shooter

Students loyal to the very end

Heroically tried to save their friends

Even though many have died

The true spirit of America still lives on

Over here in Chicago

I was scared

Will I die?

There is no reason to be afraid

Only inspired

Use your fear to stand up to guns

Use your fear to protect all others

To save innocent people’s lives

Great work, Anja!! I don’t believe any teenager should be able to purchase a gun legally, especially not a person with a long history of violent behavior. I believe our country needs to pass common sense gun legislation.
